How cropping changes image size
We cropped the same 1,600 × 1,067 PNG to three different regions using the FileTools Rust image engine. The benchmark shows how removing pixels can reduce the resulting file size, even when the image format stays the same.

Method: a generated 1,600 × 1,067 RGB test image was encoded as PNG at 4,298,477 bytes. Each crop was measured over 12 release-mode Rust-engine runs; the table reports the median processing time. The crop coordinates started at X=200, Y=133. This is a synthetic benchmark, so photographic file sizes will vary with image content.
Crop photos without uploading them
